Town Wars rules

Draft. This page is waiting for a legal review and may change.

Town Wars is a bit of fun: a scoreboard of which New Zealand towns have signed the most Kiwi Flame Hot waivers. These rules explain how it works.

How a town scores

  1. Coded bottles of Kiwi Flame Hot have a unique QR code and printed code under the gold seal.
  2. When the person who has the bottle scans the code and signs the Heat Liability Waiver, they choose a town.
  3. That town gets one point.

Each code counts once. After it has been signed, it can't be signed again or moved to a different town.

What doesn't count

  • Page visits, Heat Finder results and shares.
  • Codes that haven't been signed.
  • Codes from bottles that weren't sold to the public, such as samples or damaged stock, and codes we've cancelled.

No eating required

Points come from signing the waiver, not from how much sauce anyone eats. Please don't turn Town Wars into an eating challenge. Eat Kiwi Flame the way you'd normally eat sauce.

Fair play

We may remove points that come from codes obtained or used unfairly, such as codes taken from bottles in a shop, guessed or shared codes, or automated sign-ups. Our decision on whether a point counts is final, and if we get something wrong, we'll fix it.

Seasons

Town Wars runs in seasons. When a season ends, its final scoreboard is kept and the next season starts from zero. We'll announce season dates on the Town Wars page.

Prizes

There are no prizes, just bragging rights. If we ever offer a prize, it will come with its own terms.

Your information

The scoreboard shows towns and point totals only, never people. See the privacy policy for what's stored when you sign.

The waiver itself

The Heat Liability Waiver is a novelty certificate for entertainment only. It isn't a legal liability waiver, and it doesn't affect your rights under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act.
